Market Recovery attempts continue amid investor caution and sector rotation ...
The stock market remains in a recovery phase, though a confirmed uptrend has yet to materialize, keeping investors cautious. While major indices like the S&P 500, Dow Jones, and Nasdaq posted modest weekly gains, the absence of a follow-through day leaves uncertainty about the rally's strength. Optimism grew after Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell delivered a reassuring outlook, projecting 2025 rate cuts and framing tariff-driven inflation as temporary. Although business and consumer sentiment have softened, strong labor market data support Powell’s view that key economic fundamentals remain intact.
Tesla’s historic nine-week losing streak weighed heavily on markets, though signs of stabilization helped major indices avoid extended declines. Sector-wise, Energy and Financials led weekly gains, indicating a shift toward economically sensitive areas, while Technology and Discretionary sectors struggled to rebound from sharp losses. Defensive sectors like Utilities and Staples continued to decline. With market volatility amplified by triple witching events and expiring options, investors are looking closely for signs of sustained leadership in strong-performing stocks as they await a clearer directional trend.
